IND vs SL 2 T20: Dhananjaya, Bhanuka lead Sri Lanka to 4-wicket win over India dropped, level series 1-1 – Minor India lost 4 wickets after Dhananjaya de Silva and Minod Bhanuka took the lead Sri Lanka chase down 132 with two balls to spare. Chamber Karunaratne’s 12-run cameo also helped. With this success, Sri Lanka rallied a three-match series to make it 1-1. The final match will be played on Thursday.
Chasing 133, Sri Lanka got off to a bad start as Avishka Fernando (11) was brought back in the tent by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the second over of the innings. Sadeera Samarawickrama hit eight runs off 12 balls and her struggle ended in a 7th over when Varun Chakravarthy vomited out, knocking Sri Lanka to 39/2.
IND vs SL 2nd T20: Skipper Dasun Shanaka (3) failed to leave the mark as he was sacked by Sdeu Samson of Kuldeep Yadav bowling and Sri Lanka were reduced to 55/3, still need 78 runs to win from 65 balls. Minod Bhanuka (36) was also sacked by Kuldeep and Sri Lanka were sent back 66/4.
Dhananjaya de Silva and Wanindu Hasaranga then joined hands and scored 28 runs in quick succession, but the relationship was terminated by Rahul Chahar when he chased Hasaranga (15) and Sri Lanka still 39 runs away from the target.
In the last three overs, Sri Lanka needed 28 runs to win, with de Silva and Chamber Karunaratne making sure the visitors crossed the line.
IND vs SL 2 T20: Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan hit the top spot by hitting 40 runs as India posted 132/5 in 20 overs. The bat was sent off first, India got off to a good start as openers Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 45 runs inside the first six overs. The first 49-run wicket stand ended in the final over of the seventh over as Gaikwad (21) was returned to the tent by Dasun Shanaka.
Devdutt Padikkal then joined Dhawan in the middle and both strikers found it difficult to change the strike. However, in the 11th over, Padikkal broke the chains while sending Dhananjaya de Silva to the top six. However, the 32nd stand between the strikers ended in a 13th over when Akila Dananjaya cleared Dhawan (40), lowering India to 81/2.
Trying to find a bigger gun, Padikkal (29) also perished in the 16th over, released by Wanindu Hasaranga, bringing India down to 99/3.
IND vs SL 2nd T20: Sanju Samson (7) also failed to leave the mark and India struggled to put in decent points on the board.
In the final overs, India struggled to register the frontiers and was blocked below 150 marks. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Navdeep Saini remain undefeated at 13 and 1 respectively.
