Saurav Ganguly, President of BCCI told PTI that, the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is going to be held in October-November this year, is organized in UAE. This is decided for the health and safety of all the stakeholders. ICC asked BCCI, in the start of this month about the finalized location of the games and gave a time period of 4 weeks to decide. BCCI has finally announced the Shift in UAE. The mega event is assumed to star on October 17 but the date is yet not confirmed. BCCI will still be the host of the games. It is known that the second part of IPL, is also going to be held in UAE. IPL games were stopped due to growing Covid-19 cases. Now the remaining games are announced to be played in September-October, in UAE.
Jay Shah, secretary of BCCI has told that the health and safety of players and stakeholders is priority. Shah also said that this was a great opportunity to host this mega event but unfortunately, due to devastating situation after second wave of Covid-19, it slipped out of the hands.
The matched will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah few weeks after IPL closing.
