Pakistan Railways has launched a wide-ranging improvement drive that upgrades station waiting areas, modernizes train coaches, and beautifies railway tracks with new greenbelts.
The department has formally started an urban tree plantation drive in collaboration with the Punjab government. Under the project, trees and flowering plants are being planted along railway tracks.
The first phase has begun in Mandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, Sargodha, and Bhalwal, where plantation work is already underway. In Mandi Bahauddin, the campaign was formally launched in the presence of the deputy commissioner.
Alongside the greening effort, Pakistan Railways is continuing upgrades across major stations, including Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad. Officials say modern facilities, improved waiting areas, and enhanced technology are being added to create a more comfortable travel environment.
At several stations, new waiting areas are being developed through public-private partnerships. These upgraded facilities will offer passengers more comfort and convenience while they wait for their trains.
Pakistan Railways says these combined efforts will provide travelers with a cleaner, greener, and more modern rail experience across the country.
