81% of adults buy more in small businesses

According to a recent MasterCard study, people prefer faster and more flexible digital experiences, with 79% in the LAC region and 81% in Peru buying more from small businesses. Higher payment options.

MasterCard New Payment Index Report Details in 83% of Consumers Latin America Plan to use at least one emerging payment method such as cryptocurrencies, biometrics, contactless cards or QR code next year (at 82% Peru). Nearly two-thirds (65%) of those surveyed in the region confirm that they have already tried the new payment system driven by the current situation.

In this sense, MasterCard explains that “personal safety and care have taken an important role in countering the great potential for infection in the traditional form of payment.”

For this reason, new forms of tariffs also emerged last year as an alternative throughout LIC, with 84% of consumers in the region using a new one for the first time in the past year. In Peru, these were the biggest impacts:

-43% is paid with a non-contact card
-33% is paid using digital money transfer service
-45% paid using mobile or digital wallet
-30% is paid through QR codes
-19% is paid in installments
-20% is paid through mobile payment functions via SMS
-11% is paid with cryptocurrencies
Paying -10% by verifying your information with biometric updates
-10% is paid using the “Plate and Pay” technology available in their wearable products.
