Dean Stockwell, actor is best known for playing Admiral ‘Al’ Calavicci opposite Scott Bakula’s Dr. Sam Beckett in NBC’s sci-fi dramedy Quantum Leap has died at the age of 85. His agent confirmed that he passed away on Sunday due to natural causes.
Quantum Leap Is an American science fiction series that aired from March 1989 to May 1993. It starred William Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, who is testing out his theory on time travel “leaped” into the body of an Air Force pilot fifty years before him and found himself having many adventures with alternate versions or timelines during each episode while trying return home but realized he could only randomly leap into other people’s lives so they became friends along way until season two where some characters were killed off without explanation.
Stockwell earned four Emmy Award nominations for his role as Admiral Al Calavicci in the Netflix series, Black Mirror. He also received one Golden Globe award and two television credits from JAG to Battlestar Galactica (2003–2009).
Stockwell was a child star, and his career started at an early age. He began acting in movies before he even hit the high school with credits such as Song of the Thin Man (1947), The Boy With Green Hair(1945) Kim- Gentleman’s Agreement (for which Stockwell won a Golden Globe).
He’s no longer an actor, but he will forever live on in film history. John Stockwell is best known for his brilliant supporting performances that earned him Oscar-nominated roles and significant career success as well as notable credits such as David Lynch’s Dune (1984) or Blue Velvet(1986). His later big-screen credits included To Live And Die In L .A.(1985), Beverly Hills Cop II(1987), The Player (1992 ) Air Force One(1997).
John passed away last week after a long illness which left behind two children Austin & Sophie alongside their loving wife Joy who was by her h usband’s side during this difficult time.
