PM Orders Full-Scale Flood Relief Efforts in AJK, KP

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to launch comprehensive relief operations in flood-hit regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The directive was announced by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday. He stated that the Prime Minister is closely monitoring the situation and is issuing continuous instructions to ensure effective relief efforts.
PM Shehbaz has tasked NDMA Chairman Lt. Gen. Inam Haider with maintaining close coordination with both provincial governments to accelerate rescue and relief operations. A dedicated Special Cell has also been set up at the Prime Minister’s Office to facilitate round-the-clock communication with the NDMA.
Tarar noted that the Prime Minister has personally visited NDMA offices multiple times during the recent flooding to oversee the response efforts. He emphasized that the government’s top priority is the protection of human lives, especially amid reports of nearly 40 people missing in KP.
NDMA’s early warning system is actively providing updates to provincial authorities, and its Command and Control Center is operating 24/7 to monitor developments and guide response actions.
